A Constructed Murder

AUTHOR Scott, Kendall
PUBLISHER Independently Published (09/30/2021)
PRODUCT TYPE Paperback (Paperback)

Description
A new super-highway is bypassing the small town of Modest Peak and, as is to be expected, the townspeople are not happy about it. Not only will this bypass completely circumvent the town, but it will cripple the town's economy in the process.

However, all hope isn't lost. When the body of a construction worker turns up right where the bypass is being built, Sheriff Nevil orders construction to stop until the murder is solved. Where this is greeted with applause from the townspeople, it's met with disdain from both the workers and the Mayor of Denver, who had a hand in getting the bypass green lit in the first place.

The case appears to be a simple one, and when Constance is contracted by the mayor to help solve it, it seems that it will only be a matter of days until the killer is caught. But as is to be expected, this could not be further from the truth.

First, Constance's key leads appear as innocent as can be. Next, Constance is attacked and threatened to stay off the case. Then, sure in knowing who this attacker was, Constance is again proven wrong. The case twists and turns, with each new clue bringing with it more questions than answers until even Constance Aberfield becomes convinced that for once, she may have found a case that even she can't solve.

Please Note: Thirteen Volume of the the Modest Peak Mystery Series. Approximately 51,000 words in length. It is a standalone (reading prior or future volumes not required to enjoy the book, no cliffhanger).
