Description
This book deals with the Development and Characterization of sustained matrix tablets of a novel drug Pinaverium using different polymers. To facilitate the pH-independent drug release of Pinaverium, pH modifying agents (buffering agents) were used. Colon targeted tablets were prepared in two steps. Initially core tablets were prepared then the tablets were coated with Ph dependent polymers. Eudragit RLPO and S100 were used as enteric coating polymers. The pre-compression mixture of all formulations was subjected to various flow property tests and each one the formulations were passed the tests. The tablets were coated by polymers and so the coated tablets were subjected to various evaluation techniques. The tablets were passed all the tests. Among all the formulations F6 formulation was found to be optimized as a result of it had the drug release of up to 12 hours and showed most of 98.45% drug release.
