PRODUCT TYPE Paperback (Paperback)

Description
The developed and developing nations have more independent, aged people. The elderly person needs physiological monitoring for assistance, and to monitor emergency situations in times of distress. With advancements in technology, many such health monitoring systems are now available.By monitoring the position and orientation of the person, a fall detection system can be devised. One such prototype is developed using MEMS sensors for this project. The gyro sensor used in this project gives information about orientation and position with 6 degrees of freedom. Also, a piezo vibration sensor along with a microphone sound sensor was used in a supporting role to avoid false alarms. For various activities of daily living (such as walking, running, sitting, etc.)the sensor readings are taken and analysed. Then certain threshold values are set to classify between the normal activities and any event of fall.
