In Cultural Studies in Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is an Assistant Professor at Borough of Manhattan Community College/City University of New York and the founder of the Santo Rico Kids Cultural Center, a nonprofit organization in Spanish Harlem that provides Latin dance instructions to children. She is the author of Critical Aesthetic Pedagogy: Toward a Theory of Self and Social Empowerment and has also published on Critical Pedagogy, Art Education, Cultural Studies, and Social Justice.
