When a dreadful rainstorm threatens to flood a small town library, the library books ban together to come up with a plan to save themselves from drowning. After searching within their pages and a passionate discussion of dead-end solutions, the books realize they cannot move themselves to higher ground or protect their paper pages from the flood. Filled with fear of their impending doom, the books are at a loss. Their anxious silence is soon broken by a soft old voice coming from a far away corner shelf. Spooked, the books look up to the voice and they discover a mysterious Ancient Book living amongst them called "The Ancient One." When the Ancient One swoops down from the corner shelf, books jump out of their pages while others are at a loss for words. No one dares to speak to the Ancient One except for a brave Child-Book. The Ancient One's gentle and wise presence soon puts all the books at ease as they learn that the Ancient One may have a solution to their problem. With the help of the Child-Book, The Ancient One shares six hidden secrets that allow the books to grow wings as the storm rages? After some disastrous flying lessons, the books must learn to cooperate just as the storm peaks. The howling wind propels a tree branch through a window and the flood begins. As the floodwater rises higher and higher, the books struggle with their new wings - will they make it to safety?
